When professionals write books, it’s easy to feel obligated to draw things out. Make the book feel momentous. But, here’s a secret: If you’re a professional writing for other professionals, they don’t have the time to invest in reading a gigantic tome anymore than you have to write it. So, do like Kurt Vonnegut does and, “Start as close to the end as possible.”

This doesn’t mean condensing your Big Idea into a blog post, but keep in mind that your reader’s time is just as valuable as yours. Get your point across without unnecessary length.
